Full MOT history
Every test since records began, with pass and fail results, advisory notes and failure reasons. This is where recurring faults show up.
A free car check on any UK reg, with the full MOT history, road tax status, recorded mileage and vehicle details on screen in seconds. No account. No card. No sign up.
Enter a number plate and you get real data, not a teaser screen that asks for payment before it shows you anything.
Every test since records began, with pass and fail results, advisory notes and failure reasons. This is where recurring faults show up.
The recorded mileage at each test, laid out in order. A reading that drops or jumps is the clearest clocking signal you can get for free.
Whether the vehicle is taxed, SORN or untaxed, and when the current tax runs out.
Make, model, year, colour, engine size, fuel type and CO2 emissions, so you can confirm the car matches the advert and the V5C.
That is enough to walk away from a bad car without spending anything.
A free check tells you what the record says about the car. A paid report tells you what the record says about its money, its identity and its damage. Here is the honest split.

Start with the free vehicle check, then go straight to the individual check you need.
Three simple steps, with no account required to see the free results.
Any valid UK registration. Nothing else is needed, and you are not asked to create an account.
MOT history, mileage, tax status and vehicle details appear on screen within seconds.
If the car is worth pursuing, add the checks that carry the real financial risk, such as finance, write-off and stolen records.
A car checker free of payment should still give you useful information before asking you to upgrade.
No account, no card details and no email wall before you see the results. Plenty of sites call themselves free and then ask for payment at the point the data appears.
Every test, every advisory, every failure reason and the mileage at each one. Summaries hide the pattern, and the pattern is the useful part.
Clear sections and simple summaries, with no codes to decipher and no vague hints about problems we cannot evidence.
Shortlisting five cars is normal. Check all five before you drive anywhere.
Every free vehicle check runs on UK vehicle records. We use DVLA and DVSA source data where available, with trusted provider data behind the premium checks in a paid report.
REGUP is an independent vehicle checking service and does not claim to be DVLA, DVSA or GOV.UK. A check reports what is held on record. It cannot tell you how a car drives, and it does not replace a mechanical inspection.

Yes. The MOT history, mileage, tax status and vehicle details cost nothing, need no account and have no limit on how many vehicles you check. You only pay if you want the checks behind them, such as finance, write-off and stolen records.
You can check a large part of it for free, including the full MOT record, the mileage at every test and the tax status. Finance, write-off, stolen and keeper history are not available free anywhere, because that data is licensed rather than public.
No. Enter a registration and the results appear. An account is only useful if you want to save vehicles or access reports you have paid for.
You can get MOT history and tax status from the government's own service, including the GOV.UK MOT history service. What you cannot get there is outstanding finance, write-off category, stolen markers, previous keepers or a valuation. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
Yes. Any vehicle with a UK registration number can be checked, including vans and motorcycles.
It reflects what is held on official record. Records can take a few days to update after a new MOT or a tax renewal, so if something looks inconsistent, check it against the physical documents.
As many as you need. If you are comparing several cars, check all of them before you travel to view any of them.
Enter any UK number plate and see the MOT history, mileage and tax status in seconds. Upgrade only when the car is worth being certain about.
